How to promote KM within a company

Dear All,

It is not long that KM concept was introduced to China. Many people are not familiar with it. So it is difficult to implement in a company. Any method i can take to promote it? Thanks.

Monica

You want to promote Knowledge Management within a company and for this purpose you looking a idea. I think the best way to promote KM in a company to organize a KM learning session at weekend for one hour and give me a detail lecture or presentation about KM to the employee of your company. In this way you can promote KM within a company.

to introduce knowledge management in your organisation you have to observe and learn from other organisations that have already adopted it so that you can have a life example of knowledge management at work...

Knowledge transfer
by: Anonymous

Dear Monica,

You may wish to refer to my article: 'Knowledge management: getting started"; it is available at: http://web.fumsi.com/go/article/manage/2854.

A common failing in organisations is that people rarely know what is going on that may affect them. The easiest way to remedy this is to hold regular briefings concerning imminent events, projects, activities, etc. These should be as brief as possible (about 10 to 15 minutes may suffice, but with time for comments and questions) and involve those people who may be involved or who have relevant expertise to offer.

If I can help in any other way, please let me know.

Kind regards,

Vernon Prior

A little more information please
by: Ron Young

Hi Monica

If you can give us a little more information we may be able to help more.

Tell us a little more about the China status in KM you refer to, from your perspective, and what you are hoping to personally achieve.

Regards
Ron

KP is the goal
by: Patrick Collaris

Hi,

KM can never be a goal but a mean to reach the higher goal. The higher goal is Knowledge Productivity. I used the research from Christiaan Stam (http://www.intellectualcapital.nl) about Knowledge Productivity to work together with a group of people from an organization. We did research about the Knowledge Productivity level at that organisation and the outcome were some initiatives to enhance KP. These initiatives are KM. So without telling them about KM, they are doing it and performing better and innovating.

I hope this answers your question.

If you have any questions, you can reach me at www.abilityquest.nl.

Regards,

Patrick Collaris
